Final presentation-Teaching student with L.D.

Here is my final presentation in power point.
I do learned a lot about special needs through this lifelong learning researching and reading. There are so many scenarios in classroom beyond what I can imaging. There are endless strategies we need to learn and to apply at right time to the right student. I think it will take practice (experience) to apply different strategies to different circumstances, to get it become second nature.

  1. I think this is great that you researched this and spent time learning something that will definitely effect your career as teacher and your future. As a dual major (elementary and special education) I believe that there should be more classes required for regular education majors to learn about students with special needs and what modifications will be needed to create the best learning environment for everyone. Some other great modifications I have learned are to: allow more space between questions, add a word bank at the top of every page and allow for items to be read aloud to the student. Great research and nice virtual presentation!

  2. Desiree,
Thank you for your input. I sure agree with you that this topic is another complete subject that should be taught in a formal required education class. We need to be special trained in this area like you do. At this point, I am just learning as much as I can on the surface. Hope the future practice and continue learning will help me mast more in depth skills/ techniques.

  3. I agree with Desiree!
I think more classes in the education department need to be focused on special ed and the importance of full inclusion classrooms. I am so thankful that you took the time to research this topic because I do not have a special ed background and I believe that it is important to have that background information. I like learning as much as I possibly can to better myself as a teacher. I think your project turned out nice and you could tell it was something you were really passionate about. You listed a lot of facts and good good facts that people need to know! Great job

  4. Mainstreaming students with ld's can be challenging. The teacher will certainly have their work cut out for them, but it is the law that every student be given access to the 'least restrictive environment". Ifyou haven't already taken the course, The Exceptional Individual course will be very helpful for understanding the unique needs and requirements of ld children. Special attention must be given to differentiating the instruction so as to server every student.
